One of the great joys of using a word processor is that it can provide you with some “cover” around spelling and grammar. (Of course, beware… if you rely overmuch on the built-in spelling and grammar tools, as with everything else in technology, you may run into embarrassing autocorrect issues.)
A few key things that you should know how to do when using the Word proofing tools:
- Spell-check basics
- Check spelling and grammar
- Add words to your spell check dictionary (because you are definitely more erudite than your word processor).
- Check spelling and grammar in another language (all the same warnings about autocorrection in English apply. Only more so.)
- Turn spell check on or off
